Until recently there have been no commonly accepted ethical guidelines informing the Australian AOD industry.

In 2007 the Alcohol and other Drugs Council of Australia (ADCA) published a Code of Ethics for the Australian Alcohol and Other Drugs Field.

The Code of Ethics provides AOD workers with a set of guidelines on how to work ethically and overcome dilemmas.
